While in the waiting room at a government office, I noticed this clever initiative by the staff -- a selection of coloring images, all nicely organized. [sorry for the poor focus...]
This kind of thing serves multiple purposes:
- avoid fussy young kids in your waiting room that raise the tension for everyone
- help the parent keep their focus on the business at hand, rather than managing a bored child
- show that the organization has a heart
This is not the pinnacle of what is possible, of course! But you don't need to build a ball room (like IKEA) or a play zone (like McDonald's) to do something for the littlest customers. Coloring still works.
