I was in the underground concourse below TD Centre yesterday after a meeting. There's a Laura shop in a prominent location. This is a mid-priced brand that appeals to working women (not executives, but not call centre clerks either). Lots of professional clothes, stylish, many private labels.
Signage throughout the store announcing 15% off everything in the store.
And the most amazing part: a woman with a portable loud-speaker system, walking through the store and announcing things along these lines...
"...everything in the store 15% off today, with even more specials over the lunch hour. Come on in ladies, you won't believe these deals..."
This is among the priciest retail space in Toronto, and this is the state of affairs.
