I was reading this little interview with Jeff Walker on Forbes. He's an internet marketing guru guy that seems to have made a small fortune for himself and for his clients.
I thought it was kind of cool that he is in the same coaching program I'm in. [The platinum version, I'm guessing?]
Here's what I wanted to share with you -- he advises "First give, then receive."
"The days of shoving product and services down the throats of blind customers are over."
I used to hear this advice on personal success and motivational tapes that I played while driving when there were still cassette players in cars. The reciprocity principle, it was called.
I'm a big believer in the reciprocity principle. You want fire? Put in some wood. You want testimonials? Maybe you should start by giving some, instead of asking for some.
What Jeff Walker is on about here is not personal networking advice, however. He is saying this is now true for marketing. It's good advice, for those who will listen.
