Qatar National Bank has an interesting service that permits a user to top-up their cellphone account using a "secret code" issued at an ATM. Very nifty idea.
They are also providing free alert services, something available in many smaller banks with new technology platforms. The free alerts are automated notifications on a variety of topics (e.g. account status, salary deposit) specified by customers.
Perhaps someday these services will be available from 1st world banks??
